Coordinating the San Francisco Bay Area and Beyond!
Weddings are expensive, but there are lots of creative ways to use a little elbow grease and save money on things like decor. Here is one idea that I just love! Martha Stewart's do-it-yourself pom poms...they are relatively simple to construct and her step-by-step directions really take you from start to finish without any hiccups (provided below).
Martha Stewart's Pom Pom's: Fun DIY decor!
Make different sizes and use different colors and designs to add depth to your decor. Hang them from the ceiling or place large ones along the walls with ambient lighting behind them to set the mood. Make smaller ones and use them in your centerpieces...
Hanging Pom-Poms
Materials needed: tissue paper and 24-gauge white (if you are using lighter colored paper) cloth-covered floral wire.
1. Stack eight 20-by-30-inch sheets of tissue. Make 1 1/2-inchwide accordion folds, creasing with each fold.
2. Fold an 18-inch piece of floral wire in half, and slip over center of folded tissue; twist. With scissors, trim ends of tissue into rounded or pointy shapes.
3. Separate layers, pulling away from center one at a time.
4. Tie a length of monofilament (or string) to floral wire for hanging.
If the large pom poms seem overwhelming, but you love the look, here is a smaller version to use for your table decor. Now if these aren't cute, I don't know what is...
